Finding the Right Diamond Shape
The shape of the centre diamond is often the first thing people notice about an engagement ring. The right shape is a deeply personal choice.

There's no fixed rule — the right budget is entirely personal. At JQ Diamonds, our engagement ring collection starts from around £1,500 for a certified diamond ring, with the majority of our clients spending between £2,000 and £5,000. Our specialists will work with you to find the best possible diamond within your budget, prioritising the qualities that matter most to you.
Cut is widely considered the most important of the 4Cs, as it has the greatest impact on a diamond's brilliance and sparkle. A well-cut diamond will reflect light beautifully even if its colour or clarity grades are not perfect. That said, the ideal balance depends on your priorities — our specialists can help you understand the trade-offs and find the best stone for your budget.
Both metals appear similar in colour, but platinum is denser, heavier and more durable than white gold. It's also naturally white, so it won't require rhodium replating over time as white gold can. Platinum rings are generally more expensive but require less maintenance. White gold offers a very similar aesthetic at a lower price point and is an excellent choice for many customers.
Yes — bespoke commissions are one of our specialities. Our in-house goldsmith works directly with clients to create truly one-of-a-kind pieces, from initial sketch through to CAD design and finished ring. The process typically takes around six weeks. Book a consultation to discuss your vision and we'll guide you through every step.
The most reliable approach is to borrow one of their existing rings (worn on the ring finger) and bring it to us — we can measure it accurately in store. Alternatively, you can use our ring size guide which includes printable and household measurement methods. If you're still unsure, it's always easier to size up slightly and have the ring adjusted after the proposal. We offer lifetime resizing on all JQ Diamonds rings.
